Choose a useful starting point
Start with the 12 mixed facts shown above. To focus on one table, select only that table in the choices. Select a few tables to mix them. Choose “Generate new questions” after changing settings, then check the displayed sheet before downloading.
Keep the filled 1–12 chart for reference, then try a few facts independently. A blank chart practises products in row order; a mixed worksheet asks you to switch between tables.
Use a known fact to recover another
For fours, double and double again. For sixes, use five groups and add one. For sevens, add five groups and two. For eights, double a four-times fact. For nines, take one group away from ten.
Ask for an explanation of one answer, then note the fact to revisit. These sheets practise multiplication facts; they do not cover the whole Year 4 maths curriculum.
Paper practice and the multiplication tables check
The MTC is an onscreen check for eligible Year 4 pupils in England. Paper practice lets you work on facts and explanations at your own pace. It does not reproduce the check’s screen input or timing. Schools use the official “try it out” service to familiarise pupils with the process and any access arrangements.
The official information for parents says there is no pass mark and no additional preparation is required. Follow the teacher’s usual times-table practice suggestions. Our 2027 dates and format guide keeps the current calendar in one place.
Choose Letter or A4 and keep the key separate from the student questions. For a lower-pressure session, use the untimed practice page. Classroom and closed LMS sharing permissions apply to these sheets.
